note: This post is not in chronological order.
The reason why I've been a bad blogger these past weeks is simply because the boyfriend came to visit! Words can't describe how wonderful having him around is. Been up to a few interesting things while he was around. Sightseeing, outings and all. :) This is basically to summarize what we did based on the pictures we took so apologizes if I don't mention everything.
To make things a tad easier, rather than post of 50 pictures today I decided to be rajin and made some collages with Picasa 3!
Nick arrived on the morning of 30th June 2009. Along with him, came many goodies for me!
Very happy girl indeed! *grins*And this isn't all! I got a bunch of new
clothes from Cats Whiskers and an
oven toaster as well.
Yes, I know that my boyfriend spoils me but I like to think that I spoil him as well.
Knowing how much this boy loves to eat (don't all men?) one of my main objectives was to make sure he gets yummy food! On the first day he was here, he said he wanted Aussie food and I was at lost on what to recommend to him. We were at Garden City Mall's food court for lunch; my sister, Adrian and I had Japanese for lunch. I suggested Red Rooster to Nick since its Aussie and he had a sandwich. Shopped around a bit then we headed home. Awaiting us at home is...
MISHAP #1
When we got home
and we found ourselves unable to let ourselves in! It's a very old door knob (approx 30 years old according to a locksmith) and just before we left, Adrian had to slam the door really hard to close it, very odd. When we home tried to open the door, the door just won't open. We got locked out of the house! Can't get through the windows since its grilled and other doors are securely locked. A side door with no keyhole outside and a sliding door with 3 friggin' locks! We finally got hold of a locksmith who used a drill and hammer to break our door knob into pieces. (Sorry no pictures, was enjoying the moment too much). He let us into our house and installed a new shiny door knob for us all for the charge of $150!
That's all for the first mishap. :)
One of the yummy things in Perth that Nick just had to try was
Gelare ice cream!
Brought him there and he was just so excited to see Macadamia ice cream. We've made at least 5 visits to Gelare throughout. Even specially took the bus to Carousel Mall to have some ice cream. Oh, and half priced waffles on Tuesday! Yummms. I bet you're already missing Gelare, Nick!
DAY OUT AT FREMANTLE
Sister was nice enough to bring us to Fremantle one day. We drove there with the slight guidance of the GPS. I've been bugging my sister to bring me to Fremantle since I arrived in Perth and finally, once Nick arrived, we all got to go! YAY! Freo is really nice. The quaint old buildings, market place, yachts, jetty, and how busy the streets are on a Sunday.

A slice of Freo for you

Had late lunch at Kailis Bros.
Grilled fish & chipsTraditional fish & chipsSeafood chowderFresh oystersEverything was yummy except for the seafood chowder which tasted quite fishy. eek.
The bummer thing about Perth is that you have to buy sauces! Pay around $0.40 for a packet of sweet chili sauce. Rarely do they give you free sauce, even fast food restaurants! Us Malaysians are so used to free sauce and that pump sauce dispenser at McDonalds! Paying for sauce just seems absurd!

My sister when crazy with the claw machine at Timezone. She got a total of 4 Sid, 4 Manfred, 1 pink koala bear, 1 brown bear and a bowl full of candy. Don't ask how many time she played of how much it costs please...
Saw lots of pretty things in the Fremantle Market as well. Made Nick buy a bag for $1.50 as a souvenir. Oh, and we bought apples and bananas on special!
THE MAZE
The Maze is located in Bullsbrook, approx 40 minutes drive from where we live. Admission is $15 on concession. It has 3 mazes, 3 puzzle, 9 holes of mini golf, 9 holes of disc golf, large chess set, animals, cafe and nice picnic area.
our day out at The Maze
Among the few mazes that they have.
It was fun going around the mazes. Before we started exploring the area, we had our lunch first. Sandwiches! Made our own massive sandwiches with eggs, two kinds of ham, salami, cheese and sauces. Drinks and pudding too! Stuffed.
They had a koala show and
wheeeee, we got to touch a soft and furry koala!
The many animals you can find at The Maze.
Yes, I was very happy to see so many fluffy animals!
MISHAP #2.
There's a large bird cage there where you can walk into it. Like a walkway along the cage, get it? Well Nick and I went in to look at the birds. I was standing behind him and he was holding a sheet of paper scaring the birds a little. Suddenly I hear a bird flying and *splat* something wet lands on me. Yes, a bird pooped on me! But luckily it only got onto my hoodie. Guess which evil bird from that picture did it! We walked out and my sister was feeding the birds when Nick pointed out which bird did it. "It's that one! I'm sure!"
SIS: So you're the one who did it! Want to do it again?
BIRD: *Nods crazily*
WTH man......... -____-
Dropped by Margret River Chocolate Factory to have a few handful of free chocolate later.
LITTLE CAESARS PIZZAWent to this somewhat famous place for dinner after The Maze.
Ordered 4 large pizzas for 4 people. That's a equivalent of 8 large slices of pizza each. Needless to say, we ended up having pizza for snacks for the next 2 days.
The shop was very busy and service was good. Pizza was yummmmmy too! Wished I was hungrier so I could have enjoyed more fresh pizza.
On the same note where pizzas are concern; Nick and I tried out pizza from a little corner shop at Carillion, Perth City. It tasted good as well. Don't mind going there again sometime.
Oh oh, I have to mention that we had
fried Mars bars and
Snickers! Nick enjoyed them very much. They're basically just chocolate bars coated in batter then deep fried. Recipe for a heart attack man...
Also had to let Nick try some
Utopia Bubble Tea! He had honeydew with bubbles. I had Taro with Rainbow Jelly and boy was it unpleasant tasting.
We overstuffed ourselves with buffet dinner too. First at
Sizzlers then at
Miss Maud. Both places of which are yummy. Sizzlers is a buffet on their salad and dessert bar while Miss Maud is a buffet itself. Sis and Nick said they enjoyed Sizzlers more. I enjoyed Miss Maud more simply because there was more variety and seafood tho some dishes were too salty.
KINGS PARKDrove up to King's Park after pizza because just a few days ago Jikian told me about the view at night. Had to see if for myself! The view is simply spectacular and breathtaking. You see the lights of the city buildings, Perth Eye, the riverside and when you look up, the moon shining brightly and stars glimmering. Beautiful. :) Unfortunately, it was very cold at night and we didn't stay long. Probably was there for only less than 5 minutes but we captured its beauty.
PERTH ZOOTook the public transport all the way from home to the zoo. Met up with Melissa at Esplanade Bus Port then took bus 31 (or 30) to the zoo! $17 on concession for entry. Had fun seeing all the animals but was uberly excited to see the Orang Utans! My friends and I were saying before this how we're Malaysians (supposedly famous for Orang Utans) yet we haven't seen it before! So, mission accomplished in Perth, Australia for us. LOL.

I somehow thought the Dingo was extinct but there a live one was walking around. So... it's actually the Tasmanian Tiger that's extinct! Clarified!
THE CITYThat's the place that we go most often because its most convenient and it has lots of stuff. From yummy food, shopping, Harbor Town a bus ride away, adult shops and many more. There were a few things going on for the school holidays so Nick and I attended a free circus!
Forget about paying $20 for Circus Joseph Ashton. We have
Circus Soup Spectacular for free! Had to line up early to get free tickets. Only managed to get the 2pm show since the 12.30 show was full already. Oh well, bummed around to kill time. The circus was my first circus attended! A short 25 minutes show with 4 or 5 performances. Still awesome. No photography allowed so I obliged. The somewhat embarrassing part about this was that is seemed as if Nick and I were the only ones not parents to little kids! haha. Everyone other adult was probably just there to accompany their child/children. Oh wells, I enjoyed myself!
There was a friendly guy making balloons and you all know what a kid I am... I fell for it! Gave the guy $2. Only wanted to give $1 but that smart guy linked how much we gave him to the value of our love. Cheap shot. So it was $1 from Nick and $1 from me (supposedly).

The rainy Perth winter weather makes it an awesome time to catch the most magnificent
rainbows! This one was glowing ever so brightly and it was huge! I think this one also had another faint rainbow by its side! Pretty! :)) Wonder if anyone found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? Hmm...
DAYS AT HOMESome days was just simply spent bumming around. Waking up at 12, staying in our pajamas and in bed the whole day eating junk food and watching 3 seasons of How I Met Your Mother. Nick fell in love with this series which is new to him and the character Barney.
"This is going to be legen... wait for it... dary!"Of course, bad things can happen at home too:
MISHAP #3While we were monkeying around the house, Nick hurt his toe. :(
I felt really bad. Got my sister to put her nursing skills to practice to help clean up his wound while I served him hot chips and pizza. :) I bandaged it up later before going to bed.
This somewhat sums up what we did while Nicholas Tiang was in Perth. :)
I had the time of my life and I can't thank you enough for coming over to spend some time with me! Though we didn't get to do everything we wanted, every second with you around was great.
teehee :)There is a MISHAP #4 on the last day Nick was here but I think its just too big of a mishap that it deserves a post of its own. Wait for it... wait for it...!
p.s. I just spent about 4 hours just on this post! I wonder how long it took for you to finish reading this. haha. Some feedback please. :) Oh well, not as if I've got anything better to do.
Boo Hoo Hoo, semester 2 starts next week and its a horrible combo of units. Actually its just Business Stats. Good luck everyone!
xoxo,
